My best friend’s wedding

Here we are, trying to get through the dreaded Monday once again.  Time to evaluate what we forgot, disregarded, or ran out of time to do over the weekend, and try to figure out how to squeak it in in-between the added obstacle–work.  Ah yes, the hems and haws of life.  It’s what we live for, right folks?

I mentioned last week (here) that there are many exciting events in the not so distant future for me.  My best friend, Jenn, whom I’ve known since 7th grade asked me to be her Maid of Honor  for her May 2013 wedding.  Of course I said yes, and was truly honored; but slightly panicked.  Jenn lives in Pennsylvania, and I live in Wisconsin.  So being of course, aware of my duties and obligations in regards to Jenn’s big day celebrations, I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to go about planning the event that I had envisioned for her.

Being a wedding photographer gives me a bit of insight to the whole pomp and circumstance that is all things wedding. However, it is different when YOU are the planner.   And even more so when YOU are planning to honor someone else.  I talked a little about my own wedding planning here, here, here, here, and here, and might share a little more in the near future.  I had several years to get my own wedding celebration in order.  And it was truly everything we could have asked for and more.   It was a FANTASTIC event, and we were very very fortunate to have been able to experience it.   Jenn was a big part of my wedding celebrations.  She was my maid of honor as well.  Internet, meet my bff Jenn:

A few weeks before my wedding, she asked if her new boyfriend could tag along.  After hearing about him for weeks, and being so excited for her, I was THRILLED at the prospect of meeting this guy finally.   They had met not too long before my wedding, but Jenn was already pretty sure he was the one.  Needless to say I was SHOCKED when he showed me the engagement ring he bought her the night before my wedding!!

Since the fall of 2012 I have been working with Jenn’s mom and bridesmaids to plan her wedding shower and bachelorette party.  Luckily she has a decent sized bridal party full of people who love her and care about her as much as I do.  So it really has been a fairly easy processes.  We all want it to be not only what she deserves, but also everything she could hope for. Jenn has the kindest heart, and has always done so much for all of us, we only wish to repay her and shower her back with the love she deserves.

I’m excited to celebrate with her, but I feel a lot of pressure too.  She did a lot to make my wedding experience special (as you can see from the pictures above) and I really want to do my best to return the favor.  Unfortunately, I can’t divulge too much information prior to the events, but there certainly are bits and pieces and things I found helpful in planning I can share.  And so, I will.

Today, I just wanted to introduce this part of my life to ya’ll, so that when I do share some things about the shower/bachelorette party/wedding with you, you know what the heck I’m talking about.  So for now, I’m going to leave ya hangin’!  More soon. . . I promise!
