Madison Wisconsin Senior Photographer: Samantha

I thought I’d spin my, “My Own” series a little bit for ya’ll today.  Technically I’m still sharing about myself, but really it’s all about my baby sister.

I was so thrilled to get to take her senior pictures two summers ago–I mean really, what sister gets to do something so awesome?  I mean my sister is beautiful everyday, but to be able to capture it behind my lens, and share it with the world is something not everyone gets the opportunity to do; it was so special to me.

She is currently finishing up her first year at Florida Gulf Coast University (GO EAGLES!), a quaint school in Fort Myers Florida, working towards an education degree.  She has also become a proud and active member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and will be playing a key role in recruitment this year.  (You go girl!)

The first year in college has a huge learning curve for anybody, and it probably fosters the most growth and change many young people go through and my sister has really been through the ringer.  I am so proud of her stamina, outlook, strength and accomplishments this year.  To her they may not feel so big, but if I could tell her one thing it’d be

“Sister, just keep on keepin’ on, because when you look back at your freshman year ten years from now, you are going to be so grateful you experienced so much and kept your head high and morals close the entire time.  You’re going to be better for it, and it will be worth it.”

Sam came up to Madison to get her senior pictures done, and amongst our giggles and sisterly awkwardness we were able to capture some pretty awesome shots.  It’s still surreal to look back on these and think that this is my BABY sister.  She is almost 11 years younger than me, but it’s funny how after high school age is just a number.  I miss her.  I wish we lived closer.  But I know in the end, we’ve got something that will never be broken.  Love you Sam.
