Does March automatically scream SPRING to anyone else?

As in, I automatically teleport to my 3rd grade classroom when Ms. Ward explained the spring Equinox, covered the bulletin boards in tulips and sunshine, and explained exactly why we must “spring ahead” and loose an hour of sleep–rather, get to stay up an hour later than my normal 8 year-old bedtime. It’s a switch from gloomy winter skies to rainbows, leprechauns, and flowers; and for some reason, a lion.  There is a lion in my spring persona.  Who cares if I live in Wisconsin, and today it’s snowing even though I can’t find a single freaking cloud on the radar.  Today is MY first day of spring…yessss.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again (and again and again) I ain’t got nothin’ if I ain’t got ya’ll!  Because of YOU I get to live out a dream, and do what I love and because of that you deserve a little love too!

So what does this mean?  If I have taken your picture before, I consider you a client (and a friend).  So, you are eligible for 10% off your next contracted photo session if you contact me to talk about it and plan by the end of March!!  This is a GREAT deal friends!! That means not only do you now have incentive to schedule a session and make sure you capture the moments you don’t want to miss with the people you love, but you can also get a quality photo-session at the location of your choice, AND the digital files for as low as 202.50!!

And, to go all ‘sham-wow’ on you, “That’s not all folks! That’s right there is more!!” (Maybe I’ll start auditioning for infomercials)…With any print order you make following our session I will give you a free 5by7 AND 8by10 of your choice 🙂

So, if you’ve worked with me before, contact me during the month of March and get:

  • 10% off your session–a location of your choice, an online gallery for viewing and ordering, and a flash drive with your images and printing rights
  • A free 5by7 AND 8by10 print with any photo order from your online gallery
  • Memories creatively captured forever!

Let this be your reminder friends!!  Get on the ball and get those photos you’ve been putting off–I can’t wait to reconnect and see you again!!

My sweet girl…

Today we celebrate your half birthday; one-and-a-half to be exact.  I say we, because really, I don’t expect anyone understands the celebration that it is more than me–and one day I can only hope you will understand too.  I hope that everyday you understand the love and respect I have for you, and that you can be humbled by the fact that this crazy world we live in is most certainly a better place because you have been in it.  And because of that, you celebrate yourself through respect and carefulness and mindfulness and love…and half birthdays.  One day you will understand and we will celebrate, but for now it’s just the start.

As trite as it may seem, Tessa, it couldn’t be more true: my love for you grows stronger with each passing day.  You are amazing, and I am so privileged to be your mama.  You’ve brought so much light to my life, and you’ve stolen your daddy’s heart for certain.  We are just smitten.  Completely taken by how perfect you are. By just how perfectly you fit into our hearts.

Your little giggle is contagious, and your spunk is revitalizing to everyone you touch.  You, my child march to the beat of your own drummer–you know what you want, and you don’t stop until you get it.  And if, in the end we don’t give you what you want, you let us and the whole neighborhood know about it.  Those ‘strong lungs’ the doctors told us about on day one–yeah, they are stronger now.

You are a problem solver.   A thinker.  An observer.  You are so so smart. You love to keep us on our toes.  You’re funny.  Like, really.  Daddy and I sometimes go to bed at night still laughing about something you did that morning, or two mornings before.  You make us smile so much.  You love to help.  You give so much too.  You’re a soft soul with a big heart and baby girl, you have so much love to give.

I never knew just how deep I could care about another soul until your tiny feet stomped all over my heart.  And I never would have thought I could know such a little girl so well and her know so much in just 18 short months.  Tessa, you rock my world, little rockstar and to think it’s only just the start.

I do it because it makes me happy.  I know that these memories are the ones that will mold the perception of their childhoods and add to the magic of the innocence they hold.  And that makes me  happy.  It’s just a brief time in life that we all get to have that innocence before it is lost, stolen, or even misplaced.  To me, it is a parent’s job to make that period, as short as it may be, as magical as possible.   What’s even better is to share that with others, and hope that you can touch the lives of as many children as possible.  And so, we had a little Valentine day party.  It brought me back to the days of Valentine card box creations in elementary school, and the little surprises my own mom would leave me with.  It got me excited about an otherwise benign (in my book) holiday and now I can’t wait for it every year.

People say kids make Christmas so much more fun.  True.  But really, they make everything more fun.  Everything is more exciting, new, unpredictable, and big with kids.  Boy do I LOVE that.  Valentine’s day may just be moving up on my ladder of holiday wonderfulness now that I have my own child.  It’s like a free pass to love on them even more than before, and remind them again just how special they are–and because it’s the day for it, it’s okay.  What is not to love about spreading the love?!

For all of you, I’ll spread the love through pictures.  A little bit from our love-day:

This family is really special to me.  They were my very first referral job, and one of the very first jobs I got paid for by people I didn’t know.  Over four years ago when I began my journey in photography I had no idea I’d end up doing this as my only job;  I still wake up everyday thinking “is this REALLy my life?!” and it’s because of wonderful people like this family!

We had a really beautiful fall day to meet up in Madison and get some great family shots!  It’s amazing how time flies and how big the boys are!  These two always throw me for a loop–while they aren’t identical, I sure have a hard time telling them apart sometimes!!

Thanks Kelly and Scott for letting me into your world once again!
