Oh baby.  Today you’re two and I’m sure before I know it you’ll be 22.  22 in this crazy scary world–It’s hard to think about what your life will be like in 22 years, so much in this life is out of our control and the changes from now to then are beyond my imagination.  When you turned one we celebrated your whirlwind life and blossoming personality.  Today, as you turn two I look into your future and hold my breath as I see your personality full-blown and carefree.  Because you will be a strong girl in this crazy world and we couldn’t ask for anything more.

There are a few things though, that you need to know and remember as you navigate your life.

Tessa, I love you from the bottom of my heart.  Daddy and I will ALWAYS love you, no matter what.  There is nothing that will break that stream between our hearts and yours, we will always be your #1 fans.

I think you are the most beautiful girl in the world.  Your relentless go get it attitude, and your compassionate soul have shined through since the day you were born.  When you set your mind to something, you work at it until you accomplish it and I hope that never leaves you.  You are strong, don’t doubt yourself.

Watching you care for your babies with such concern, attentiveness, and love has been my daily delight.  Your kind heart lives beyond your years.  You know when to be somebody’s rainbow and when to be the rain.  Above all else Tessa, if you continue lead your life with a kind heart and a positive go-get-it attitude like you have so far, you will be wildly happy.  Your heart is true, follow it.

You’re perfectly beautiful. Your blue eyes sparkle like the oceans waves, and your face brims with joy and hope.  Your button nose is so delicately round and your hair the most gorgeous shade.  Your smile perfectly cheery, and your laugh contagious. Beautiful because you’re real, beautiful because you are you.  You’re perfect the way you are.

It may be hard to remember this, but don’t ever forget it.

You make me so proud to be your momma.

Happy Birthday baby girl!

Minutes before I met them, I watched a (assumed to be) college freshman back into a sparkly Jaguar in his dad’s pickup truck as he forgot about the four bikes attached to the back.  It was loud, anyone within the half-mile radius stopped all bottle-necked to see what had happened. (Poor kid)  I couldn’t help but think that I **really hoped** that, along with the need to reschedule this session due to weather once before, this session may not have been meant to be.

I was wrong.  So wrong.  Alissa and Tony drove down from Minneapolis to get their pictures taken in Madison, the city they love, and the town where they met.   As we made our way around town, the memories of their experiences while here for school kept flooding back to them and it was such a fun way to spend the evening.  They met at the Kollege Klub, and Tony remembered exactly where he was standing when they talked their very first time.  It was so cool to be able to retrace that experience and capture them, newly engaged in that same spot.

When I got home that evening, I looked at myself as I got ready for a shower and I looked like I already had taken one.  It was VERY warm and SUPER humid, but Alissa and Tony took everything in stride.  No complaining, no regrets, just laughter and love–which was so awesome to see.   I enjoyed every second of that evening, and left super energized to get back downtown to shoot another!  Thank you so much Alissa and Tony for making the trek to M-Town, and being such sports all evening.  But an even bigger thank you for choosing me!  It was a total pleasure 🙂

Christel warned me, (as most of you do) that Jeremiah doesn’t like to sit still and might not cooperate.  And I always say, don’t worry, we’ll get some great shots!  But when he would hardly peek out from momma’s shoulder for the first ten minutes of our session I was a touch worried.  This little cutie took a little while to warm up to me, but once he did, he was a real rockstar!!

I love it when my clients get to come to a session knowing it was a gift to them.  Christel’s mom gave her this photo session as an anniversary gift and as I always say, I can’t think of a better gift to give!  Many of us really have to budget for our sessions and because of that it’s so easy to put it off and put it off–before long, the kids are all grown and you look back on those times and wish you had some nice pictures to reflect upon.  I LOVE that that won’t be the case for these guys!  Good work mom 😉  Enjoy!

  • Rozanne Williams - Hi, I am Christel’s mom you did such a great job. You will probably be hired in the spring after the baby is born.ReplyCancel

It was so humbling, and rewarding to work with this beautiful family.  We decided to head on out to Lussier Family Heritage Center to snag some family photos and we totally lucked out with an evening that couldn’t have been any nicer (or more bug-free!).  When Lisa contacted me, she was clearly excited to get some family photos taken of her growing family, and her excitement, enthusiasm and confidence in me was a really nice breath of fresh air!  I was so humbled by all her compliments and steadfast confidence in my work and decisions–it was really an awesome boost to help fight off any mid-season doubts.  Thanks for that Lisa!

I hope it was all worthwhile emotion! I love the way the pictures turned out and I hope you do too–Jackson and Lauren couldn’t be ANY cuter, and their love for each other is simple adorable!
